The HEL Performance Fiat 500 Abarth oil cooler take-off plate has been designed to facilitate the transfer of oil flow from your engine block to an external oil cooler, improving control over your engine's oil temperature, especially in demanding conditions when the OEM heat exchanger falls short and exceeds its ability to keep oil temperatures down. Thanks to its remarkably slimline and compact design, our take-off design avoids any interference with chassis and auxiliary components, guaranteeing a straightforward installation process.

Equipped with a built-in thermostat, this take-off ensures that your engine oil flows to the external oil cooler only when it reaches the desired operating temperature. This innovative feature not only promotes a quicker engine warm-up but also provides added safeguarding in cold weather conditions, setting it apart from non-thermostatic alternatives. Once your engine oil reaches the pre-set temperature (82°C, 92°C, or 102°C), the valve opens, permitting the flow of oil to the external oil cooler. This results in a controlled reduction of oil temperature as it circulates through the external oil cooler, which is often equipped with cooling fins and/or with the addition of a fan to improve heat dissipation. Around 10% of the engine oil circulates through the oil cooler at any given time, this ensures a continuous flow that prevents air pockets and safeguards against thermal shock to the system. The surplus oil is channelled back to the engine or transmission through the internal bypass system, promoting faster warm-up and eliminating the risk of overcooling.
